Ever seen engine damage this bad? (Att Dave API)
I bought a Legacy twin turbo with a blown engine. Apparently the previous owner who was disabled got his foot stuck on the accelerator at the lights and couldn't get his foot off
I've never seen anything as bad as this (and I've seen a few).
Dave, did you have any luck finding suitable heads? I assume they're not repairable?

RSLEG1 - Thanks for the offer. I have a 2.5 Sti short motor to go in but I was hoping the heads would be ok.
Not sure what to do now. I was hoping to Keep the twin turbo set up as I really like the low end lagless feel of them but as I see it I now have 4 options.
Find some second hand genIII legacy heads (unlikely)
Find some Impreza heads and get an oil & water feed machined into them.
Find some Impreza heads and somehow T off the oil & water feed to supply both turbos.
Or Find some Impreza heads and go single turbo.
Wayne - Thanks I'll give him a look. Do you know what year the car was?

You upset someone from Al-Qaeda ?? looks like you've got some suicide rods in there.
We had a B4 RSK engine a couple of years back that wrecked everything except one camshaft. That was the only bit we could re-use. The valves had managed to break the other 3 cams too.
I quoted our usual fixed price and got badly burnt on that one I can tell you.
However yours is a good one [ metaphorically speaking ]
David
PS l'll be back about the heads for you later.

Many thanks Dave. Got your voice mail.
I've been offered some 99 uk heads FOC so just waiting to see what the local machine shop would want for tapping in the oil and water returns (or even if its do-able).
I'll get back to you

personally i think you need to get API ro scoobyclinic to build you an engine, second hand engine can be a very very bad move, theres no gaurentie the history of the engine and can be a false sence of economy in the long run

I had one here that dented the bonnet with bits of rod.
AND
AND
We saw a Skyline that broke its flywheel on that long finish straight at the 'Ring. There was nothing left [ NOTHING ] between cylinder 5 and 4th gear. It was all gone.
The flywheel shattered and bits of it were sticking out of the top of the dash by the screen. The owner was lucky to keep his ankles. Worst I have ever seen.
That was also classed as electrical failure, 'cos the starter no longer worked [ Well I suppose it might have done, if anyone had ever found it,,,,,,,,,

I've already got a new EJ257 short motor. I was hoping to use the old heads but as you can see they're a little knackered.

Just walk in with your eyes open, as a number of members on here have run foul of a company in East London that were called Nippon Spares 2000 Ltd and these type of companies have a habit of changing their names every few months or so and then where are you??
Let me make this perfectly clear, I am not saying that there is anything at all wrong with MDKL, they may well be a perfectly legitimate company. But the web site makes it unclear who they are and where they are. Just found a link to their address. They are in Barking, East London - very close to where Nippon and another called Gold Star were.......................
For reassurance; call Trading Standards in Barking for a report/ recommendation.

I've been in Japanese engine importation since 1982 and never heard of these before today. What concerns me is that there is no contact detail or address, beyond an email address.

Thanks guys but no need. I'd only ever use Dave (API) (as I have done many times over the years). Yes, maybe you can find something a little cheaper elsewhere but you never get the same experienced informative advice that goes with it.
I'm just trying to get away with modifying some Impreza heads of the same year that I had lying around first.

Do pop in, if it's not too far out of your way. I have a feeling that I know exactly the operation you will find. PM me results if you like.

The tricky bit is the return hole, as, if the pipe is not a good tight fit, it will fall out. Then all the oil falls out [ in a remarkably short space of time.] As the oil pump produces a flow rate of 9 gallons a minute and there is a gallon in the sump...........

No, Danny means that he is trying to modify single turbo cylinder heads into twin turbo. That means taking the N/S head and drilling a oil feed supply at the front of the head and an interference-fit hole in the back fof it for the oil return.

I did tell them if they can't be certain of a good fit to try something else like drilling and threading a piece of pipe to screw in.
I'll post some pics for anyone interested.
