STi Type RA 555 DCCD gearbox
hi
i bought gearbox TY752VB4CA from STi Type RA 555 with DCCD, but i dont hv the diff control module. I want to install it in Impreza GT MY98
My 1st qstn is if i can install it now without diff controller and drive normally ( i suppose that it will work only in open mode)
2nd qstn is what i hv to do in order to hv DCCD fully operational
here is link to the bid - pls advise what to do to hv it fully operational

It depends what rear diff you have as the Dccd box will have a 1:1 transfer box and 3.9 front diff.
If you have a 3.9 rear diff (unlikely imho - possibly a 4.11 in yours?) then yes you can fit it and use it straight away, but it will be fully open as you say. You can't mix the diff ratios with a 1:1 transfer box.
To control the diff you'll need the diff ecu, controller wheel and dash lights
to display the level of lock plus wiring - just two wires into the box itself. Either get hold of the original subaru kit or look up the Neetronics diff controller which is allegedly easy to fit and cheaper to get hold of.
Good luck

3.9 too as it's an STi 2RA box , so will have 1:1 Transfer gears and therefore will require matching front and rear diffs:
JDM Impreza WRX STi RA Ver.II MY96 (also STi RA 555 & RA V-Limited Ver.II MY96)
TY752VB4CA
1st to 5th gear 3.454 2.333 1.750 1.354 0.972 reverse 3.416 transfer gears 1.000 front diff 3.900
DCCD (35:65 Open) Double-cone 3rd synchro added (RA only)

If you really have 1.1:1 transfer gears then you will need a differing rear diff and if you have one that works ( rear 3.54 I think ?) then yes work away.
I run a dccd diff that was retrofitted to my P1 to replace the viscous 50:50 centre diff - the rear diff is the smaller R160 type, rather than the larger R180 normally run with Dccd boxes/ Ra's etc, but fortunately the P1 front and rear diffs and the 1:1 transfer gears are all compatible.

Fat Boy - this DCCD tranny is 3.9 with 1:1 but my old tranny was 1:1,1 with rear diff 3,54.
i need to hv my car ready till weekend couse on saturday i hv rally organized by Subaru Poland and i would like to join it.
i hv no chance to organize diff from RA with dsame gearbox. Thats why i'm thinking which one i can use. I think that some diff from N/A impreza/forester/legacy will fit only i will take rear viscous from my old diff and put it ther.
I need to know which diff to look for
in Poland there are not so much RA/R or any other classic STi so i hv no chance to find 2nd hand rear diff which fit to this DCCD tranny
thats why i asking which other diff (not STi) i can use for this conversion once i put my rear viscous inside

If your old transmission is still fitted or works and can be refitted then why not use that for now and then keep an eye out on here or 22B.com for a suitable 3.9 rear diff to match up later on
You need to be careful about just changing the internals of the rear diff and hoping the half shafts will fit as well as there is a great variety of options there as well which has caught several people out before. Best bet is to find a whole classic rear axle, with the right diff, hubs and half shafts in as well - an added bonus of picking up an Sti R180 rear end is that you can probably get the attached Sti 2 pot rear brakes as well which are better than the standard.
Experts on here are API engines ( they advertise on here )who keep large stocks of all possible permutations of boxes axles . Give David O'Brien a ring there - he'll know the answers.

Yes if disconnnected it will run open and will run 65R/ 35F. despite mine having a controller I run it open 99% of the time.
Keep an eye out on here in for sale or on 22b.com as the controllers do come up now and then
