Rear wheeel bearing problem: HELP please!
Took my car a fortnight ago to have an o/s rear w/b done.
The garage I took it to were unable to do it as they couldn't get the suspension off the hub, as all bolts were seized
They're going to cut some of the bolts, so have ordered new, with new bushes, at an extra cost of £60. One of the bolts is 18" long?
Now, firstly, does the suspension bushing HAVE to come off to do this job?
And secondly, does anyone know where I can source the bolts/bushes as NONE of the five dealers they've tried has any in stock and they are on back-order everywhere

To bolt in question is indeed about 10'' long so is a real special.
You can get another from Welcome to the API website in the post. (and the nut too)
The bolt passes through the two lower transverse links and they 'might' be rusted to the long bolt, and if they are there is some hard work ahead for someone.
The bushes are in the transverse arms, and those arms can be had off API too.
You need to remove this long bolt (etc) to allow the drive shaft to be removed, that allows the bearing to be removed or the hub totally to be removed if the bearing needs to be pressed out.
As you are in S****horpe I would also try Alyn at AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists for parts.(Co. durham iirc)
Hope this helps you.
Graham.
ps: Snet edited your town name not me.

The bearing will need to be pressed out and a new one back in so the hub needs to be removed from the car.
I have heard of these bolts seizing a couple of times latley, oddly enough when i did my rear wheel bearings when the car was about 6 years old the bolts all came off fine.

Mine came right out too, but the whole car is like that.
The hub can be removed another way with the bolts holding the two lateral arms on the subframe removed and in both cases the bolt to the hub of the radius arm out too.
Might be awkward in the bearing press, but that is another way. The rear needs aligning after anyway because the hub comes off the strut.
