Think i've broken my front diff/diff pin??.
Hi all,
I have an MY99 UK 2000, and have had it for over a year now, it's not missed a beat.
I've changed all the fluids, bar power steering, which is soon, and its pretty standard, just an induction kit, and semi-decatted exhaust.
Recently i've changed the gearbox oil with the Syntrax stuff that people reccomend, as reverse was getting hard to select, and its been fine, untill i started getting a clonking, and whistling/squeeking.
I was thinking it was the powersteering pump giving up, or the brake pads touching the disk, as the calipers are sticking.
I've checked the calipers, and although sticking they aren't the problem, getting some recons from godspeed. Tightened the aux belt, and the noise is the same.
Whilst i had the wheels off i noted a clonking when turning the wheels.
Turn the NSF wheel clockwise makes the OSF wheel turns anti.
Turn the NSF wheel anti the OSF wheel turns clockwise.
All Good
Turn the OSF wheel clockwise makes the NSF wheel turn anti, with play.
Turn the OSF wheel anti, and the NSF wheel stays put, until the play put in in the part before that is taken out, then it turns.
I have a habit of breaking diff pins, is this likely, and could this be my whistling noise.
Also should i get a diff pin, diff, or gearbox.
I'm thinking just get a front diff.

That's fine, i've also re-checked it and can't hear any 'droning', a'la wheel bearing.
The clonking i think is the drop links, and i've now replaced the pistons on the calipers, so its not them sticking.
I was just being paranoid about the diff.
Although now i have this :- https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...res-cause.html
