Default Standard Centre Diff, How to check

I have a V3 STi which has started to spin up the front wheels over the last few months. Is this a sign that the centre viscous diff is starting to break down and therefore sending too much of the power to the front instead of splitting it in the usual percentage. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.
