Am i right in thinking that if your lambda sensor breaks or if it is disconnected the fueling goes into some kind of safe mode, ie overfuels to give a rich mixture? If so would this lead to the so popular flameouts? Fuel enconomy for me is not a problem as the car only does a very small mileage. Please do not shoot me down in flames for asking this perhaps stupid question!

If your lambda sensor is buggered, it will run rich. Flameouts come from runnign rich on overrun. It would be better to fit an aftermarket ecu and get that overfuelled in the right zones.

A vent to atmosphere (noisy one ) BOV should help you run rich and spit flames also.

Its all down to flexability though, very easy to remove a connector if that creates your desired effect. So conversly very easy to reverse the situation. Assuming that running rich will not damage the lambda sensor. Dump valves are just too noisy to live with!

Question

Let me get this right....you are thinking about seting up a switch which will break the signal from the Lambda sensor to the ECU so you can create "flame out's" at will???????

Matt.

I've just had a new Lambda fitted to my car after it was running 9% C/O on idle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The diagnostic test told me the 02 sensor was faulty(the check engine light came on and off) at Scoobysport
Fitted it,correctly wired in Black lead to gold plug and at PE last saturday i got told the lambda was faulty and it was still running at 9% C/O
Any ideas pleeeeeeeeeeeeese

Cheers
Darren

That's 'cos the Lambda sensor is being ignored by the ECU at that point so it's not surprising
