Default Gearbox problem

Noticed that my gearbox has started to whine on my STi 2.
Only does it when im in high boost but still doesnt seem to do it all the time.
Not sure though if its the Diff or the gearbox though, is there anyway to tell?
The gear changes are still smooth and there is no clunking or grating.
Im currently running my car in low boost to try to prolong the life of it.

Any comments/help is appreciated

Cheers Marcus

Suggest:

Gearbox if noise changes with gears (not foolproof!)
Constant noise = diff wheel bearings which varies with road speed, (not foolproof either)

Usually a bearing of course.

So if its the diff, im assuming it would be the front one, then how much would it cost to replace or would I nooed to do the whole gearbox?

Noise travels in strange ways in a car.
Get someone in the back who can listen and give a clear location first.

For rebuild costs call David at Welcome to the API website and he will guide you without any risk of rip-off.
I've used them several times personally.

He has a dedicated gearbox man, Rob.
