Don't superchip!!!!

Remap. It'll cost you about £600, and its a worthy investment. My car on standard turbo went from 215bhp oringinal, to 273bhp via Ecutek 3 @ Powerstation.

It was runnning 230bhp to be fair before they remapped it, as I had changed exhaust & filter.

As its a very expensive way of basically just upping the boost. Also, its a generic map and not customised to your own car.

Remapping is car specific, and therefore much better suited for your own car.

It was very interesting watching mine being remapped in a car-geek sort of way

for 'generic map' see every ecu fitted to a production vehicle. there is not a different map used on every new ford focus just a 'generic' one.
chips can work if sourced from a reputable tuner; ie polar performance or the like, who have different maps for different specs (incidentally as fitted to my car) they a far more subtle than just increasing boost ,some raise fuel cut, increase rev limit, alter fuel/ignition map to allow use of lower octane fuel and still use all factory sensors, cel light still works as it should, boost gauge should be fitted to confirm increase in boost isn't dangerous (with either chip or mappable ecu) as a precaution.
some people see chips as cheap fix but its what the likes of prodrive etc used to do in the early cars as part of thier upgrades.
it's entirely up to you and if you can afford it, mappable ecu is the way to go for future upgrades but if you car is only ever gonna see an exhaust and air filter think about a chip.

I was talking about superchips, not a customised solution based on a generic starting point.

We all know that a proper bespoke remap is better, but it costs more so horses for courses

some people new to scoobs may be confused about these so called 'super'chips, which do as you say only raise boost and do not safely modify your car. standalone's are the best way to go but you can safely use an ecu mounted chip from a reputable supplier/mapper.
