Question exedy organic uprated clutch judder from new

HI there im very new on here (2 mins ago) but hopefully i will be able to navigate my way back here...... ok i have just fitted an exedy racing clutch (organic disk with 40% more clamp load plate in the red box says racing clutch). my car is a 2000 classic uk turbo version 5 and had a standard clutch in, standard clutch was not slipping and i had no issue with judder when pulling off or changing down gears at low revs (approaching lights).......... now i do have some judder, i can deal with this but is this normal for my exedy organic uprated clutch when brand new? will it get better? i have only done about about 10-15 miles on new clutch and only pulled off at low revs as i expect it has to bed in properlly. reson for not much use is due to me changing my standard exhaust manifold with a stainless equall length feral racing manifold and have been told i should get a re-map before driving properlly (as intended)... is this true that the clutch judder is normal for my clutch????? and do i need a re map since fitting the manifold????? please help lol thanks.
oh and last but not least... DO I NEED TO REMOVE THIS 'ORFICE'??? im happy with the pedal feel as it is, just not the judder

Sorry, not sure about your Exedy juddering..Although I'd give it some more time to bed in. You will need a Re-map if you change your manifold!

Did you skim or replace the flywheel when the clutch was changed?

I had an Exedy Organic clutch fitted yesterday at API. The mechanic expected my flywheel and said it looked ok, so it was left as is. There's no sign of judder on mine.

mine juddered badly as well , had it fitted with an exedy 5.7Kg flywheel

took it on the drag strip for a weekend and it never juddered after that

mind you it did break after 4000 miles . with only 340 lbs/ft torque

Yeah, but look at the size of your feet Daz !

PS good numbers on your latest roller session with the Simtek

Sometimes a clutch needs a few launches to get 'high spots ' off, Don't worry just yet Mr RS250gtracer , but if it it did go on a damaged flywheel, then that's what l would expect. We can help you with your remap and so-on if you care to call me.

Funny, some people seem to get a bit of judder with the set up you have BUT we never experience it with the ones supplied by us. Either fitted here or self fitted.

David,

I was asking if I launch it hard to get rid of judder will it smell??

Its one of your clutchs which you fitted for me, Seem to have a Judder when pulling off, Anything you can suggest?? You said to me when I emailed you to give it a while to let it settle down, but its still doing it 4,000 miles later.

do you do the ecutek remaps dave ? where are yoy based aswell, i dont mind a bit of travel but its gonna b a boring ride at low revs, im terrified my subaru gonna blow up since the manifold i changed.
my flywheel looked fine when i saw it, looked nice and smooth couldnt see any damage.
what kind of power can i expect of the spec on my car? thanks

You'll need to tell me the year of the car to decide if Ecutek fits, as it is 99 car onwards, no matter UK or JDM type.

We are close to Junc 12 of the M40.

Usually speaking there is a gain of about 10 % by remapping the car the first time. So a 280 hp car ends up a bit over 300 maybe 310 ish. lt depends upon exhaust and so on and how the car 'accepts ' the upgrade. Some do better than others. But tell me about the age of the car and what is done now and l can advise better.

As for clutch judders a couple of launches usually settles them down and yes, it does make a smell as you are burning off the ' high spots ', but it should only last for 5 mins or so.

All 4wd drive cars are prone to a small amount of judder it is a function of the grip levels against the clutch grip. Mostly the Exedy from me seems not to be as bad as others dunno why. Perhaps it is our devotion to ' providing the best product around at a competitive price ' policy.

AND if you believe B/s [ sorry positive publicity ] then that is the reason.

the exedy i had from you David was better than the supposedly identical one i had from 'another' place . . . still didn't last long but looked alot stronger and, yes, it did get a little lot of grief

i won't name the 'other' place but the name scamkill springs to mind , no help whatsoever either, where as i know David would certainly be a bit more sympathetic . . . . just advised someone on a local forum to bell you David expect my name to be 'dropped'

We are expecting our first supply of Kevlar clutch disc facings in soon. We are interested to test them against organic & ceramic. l'll try one in the APi [ my ] 400 hp STi 9 which has launch on it.

Then we'll know.

Just to update you all.

Surely you're winding me up ?

Launch is exactly that. Once installed, engage 1st gear, bury your right foot to the floor, the engine hits a preset limiter, say 5000 rpm. [ mine is set at 6200 ] Then you just take your foot off the clutch. The engine drops a bit of timing and applies heaps of boost and away you go.

That is a simplification, but you get the idea.
