Transmission dragging

Transmission dragging
I am new to the forum and Subaru's and would appreciate any help.
I have a 96 WRX wagon import. When parking or manoeuvring (turning) there appears to be a great deal of drag through the transmission. It’s although the handbrake is on and requires the clutch to be slipped and more gas to move. I have tried rolling out of gear down hill in a straight line and there is no drag until I turn then the car slows to a stop. The drag appears to be worst the longer the drive I have been on.
There are no knocking noises and no other noticeable problems.
I am a complete novice when it comes to 4WD and related issues.
Many thanks for any help or advice.

Welcome to the forums
Im not sure but 2 things spring to mind
Either your car has DCCD and it is wound forward (Towatrds the locked position), this its self causes what feels like drag when the steering wheel is turned
To fix this, just wond the thumb wheel all the way back to the open position.
Or the other thing is your fly wheel has wraped.
This when you move off and slow down the car judders, altho it wont matter werther your turning or not.
The cure for this is to remove the fly wheel and have it skimmed OR to have a new replacement fitted.

Hi Phildodd06
Many thanks for the post great to make contact. As far as I know the car does not have DCCD. There are no controls near the handbrake area.
As the car slows to park there is very little drag until I turn the wheel it then slows although the handbrake has been applied. It drags going forwards and backwards when the wheels are turned. Once out of a parking space and wheels are straight I can move off with no problems.
Any help would be most welcome.
