Hi as anybody made a subaru in to two wheel drive???
i asked because i was thinking it would make a good drift car and i would like to do it,,,,
Thinking locking the gearbox diff taking front drive shafts out but putting the stubs back in to stop the oil and that should do it....
do you think this would work???

Its realy easy all you have to do is pull the back section of the gearbox off and pull out the center diff and cut off the shaft that drives the front wheels and then weld the diff solid and put it back together. Don't pull the front shafts out and when it is up on a hoist it looks completely factory!!
I've done it and its sweet as but I did have to upgrade my rear diff after it stripped the teeth in the factory one.
It is a cheap way to get an under cover drifter and heaps of fun!!

I found my suspension was too soft, the harder the better as with any drifter.
Im a New Zealand boy and the car is very loose on gravel but when I was in the UK I didn't see much gravel.
The more power the better as it is easy to get a bit sideways and keep control, mine is to guttless.
But the whole project including diff upgrade only owes me $250NZ and that incudes all oils and CV boots drive shafts etc. So its cheap fun. The best part is surpriseing people that don't expect a subi to drift!!

You don't need any parts, all you need is a socket set, welder and angle grinder.
Cut where the centre diff goes to the front wheels, leave the front drive shafts in so that where it gets a warrent (or the UK equivilent) it looks factory.
Trust me we've done it
