Default Noisy 6 spd release bearing on 06 STi

I'm starting to get a noticeable rattle from the gearbox only when starting from cold on my 06 STi.
Putting the clutch in kills the noise, so presumably its the release bearing.
Car has only done 14k miles and is 9 months old so presumably it is a warranty job.
Anyone know if Subaru IM UK warranty work HAS to be done by an IM dealership or can any reputable service agent be used (if IM don't put hurdles in the way)?
The service booklet is pretty vague on this.

From 06 service book:

STANDARD LTD WARRANTY ON NEW VEHICLES

OWNERS RESPONSIBILITIES
A. As an owner of a SUBARU vehicle, you are responsible for taking your SUBARU to an officially appointed dealer or reputable service agent to obtain warranty service.

This reads to me as if things have changed for 06 cars? I always assumed warranty work had to be done by a dealer, but this suggests otherwise?

iirc you have to take it to a VAT reg garage and submit receipts to IM to claim back your money. To me this is a big risk and they'll more than likely fob you off for as long as they can, if paying out at all..!

I suppose you could try and get approval first from IM (in writing obviously), but I doubt they will like it much and wonder why you're not using a main stealer..!

It WILL be a warranty job so I'd take it to a main dealer. Dealer costs and labour rates won't come into the equation then.

Nick mine rattles a bit on start up when cold and I believe it to be the release bearing too. Disappears when you depress the clutch. TBH until the clutch gets replaced I am leaving well alone rather than risk a job like this to a dealer. I am told the release bearings are known to be a noisier type than most, and as its not an expensive or serious problem I am happy to wait till the clutch gets upgraded or replaced.
