Sti Type R GearBox Problems
Hi guys am new here.
I have a 1999 v5 sti type R,
I have had a slight drown from my front part of my gear box, when I adjusted the DCCD forward i.e more lock the noise would go away.
The other night I pulled away from a Stop sign, and a Loud dull bang came from my box. I have Perfect Clutch and gear Selection, But as soon as I drive a very loud bang comes from the front of the box (after a full rotation of the wheels), this is a physical jump of the engine when this happens, it looks like the drive to the front diff/ has died.-But I can see the shafts turn when driven.
*I have full clutch controll
*I have perfect gear selection and drive.
Its obvs somthing to the front of the box, as when you pull forward the engine jumps with the box!
Who is the best company to send to, as I am on the Isle Of Man, so I will have to post to the mainland.
Or can any body supply me with a gearbox?
Thanks sean

If you pull away or reverse with anything other than the bottom green (fully open) then the car will clunk its nuts off.Move the wheel back to the fully open mode and see if the knock goes

Hi yes I know you ge tthe clunks as the diffs are locked. But it has broken, the bang is so bad the whole engine jumps, its like somthing is slipping when power is put on it, halfshaft? Sorry I dont know much about subaru boxes, I work on cosworths, which has separate front diff, transferbox etc. Thanks

Suggest a call to David at Welcome to the API website for no-ripoff advice.
He fixed my Type R box/diff.
