Unhappy

My new Forge DV arrived in the post this morning (piston atmos device £140). There was no documentation at all (I expect none is necessary, but...).

I stuffed it on, and went for a drive... And it is really quiet :-(

Just a bit of a flutter - thats all.

My questions are... Do they need any form of initial lubrication etc?

Do they "wear in"?

Or could it be that my car is just not producing much boost?

***

John, I eventually found some quiet ice free road to do a 0-60 and your recomended 30-70...

0-60: approx 7 sec (but went real easy on the clutch).

30-70: around the 5.5 sec mark that you said was norm.

Any ideas / cold wet fish slapped around my face? :-)

Those figures are OK for an unmodded Scooby if your speedo is accurate. Buy a boost gauge m8.

I've seen a few gauges for about Fifty squid, but call me mr cheapo when I say that is a lot of money for a simple mechanical device! :-)

I've recently been trying to concoct a temporary instrument from an old bit of 1.25" copper pipe (T from the DV pipe), a spring, and a big ol syringe!!!

Now you will definitely call me mr cheapo!!!

I also really like the idea of using the car's own MAP sensor, and now that I've found the voltage calibration values (your old AFR meter thread), then its soldering iron time! Ahh I love the smell of flux vapour first thing in the morning...

Gives me a chance to get away from my recent curse of being just an Embedded RT softie engineer anyway.

You are even more of a cheapskate than me! But it took me a while before I bought a boost gauge. Try £32 from Falkland performance.
