Question gearbox replacement... ?

Hi Folks,

Looking for some advice regarding the gearbox on my Impreza Turbo Classic MY00.

I've had a problem when going into 4th (from 3rd) for sometime, where it's almost like the syncro is not working correctly. If I double de-clutch, it works fine.

I've recently had the clutch replaced, I am now noticing a new problem on 5th gear entry, it grates every time regardless of double de-clutching.

What are my options here. I guess I should have had it looked at when the clutch was replaced but was worried about having a huge bill...

Should I be looking at getting it repaired or buy a new box or are there reconditioned ones out there?

I know if I take it to my dealer they will just see pound signs...

Any help/advice I'd be grateful for

Dave

Sounds like a worn synchro Dave - give David at API a bell - he will talk you through some options.

Angry API OK ?

Well just to keep you updated....

I contacted API. They asked for my gearbox TY number which I provided.
Since then they won't answer the phone or reply to my emails.....

Anyone else suffering from contact problems with API?

Doesn't give me much confidence in passing business to them.

Api are normally excellent at responding to emails/phone calls.

David normally responds to e-mails very quickly if he is in the office.

PM him on here also - his user name is apidavid.

This is the kind of efficient response he gives:
