Removing Propshaft to Diagnose Diff or Gearbox Related Noise !!??
Following on from this

Would the rear diff wind up if you disconnected the propshaft to help pinpoint, Either diff or Gearbox noise ??
In theory the rear wheels would still travel at the same road speed & i don't need to go far to be able to hear the noise
reasonable idea or just plain stupid ??

With mine I got it to a garage, put it up on the 4 post lift and let it idle in gear.
Then you can get under the car and listen with a makeshift stethoscope - namely a big screwdriver!
