hello there, im new to this forum, im just looking for a bit of advise on what clutch my dad should go for.

he has an sti jap import engine number s696-394767 (1997)
and hes after a new clutch kit.

it needs to be good for about 375nm - 400nm of tourque but remain fairly drivable as my mum drives it too.

ive been on nipponpower.com and had a look at spec clutches which look very good as they also give them a tourque rating, ive also just phoned the USA and spoke with them but the chap said the clutches are all for the american market, they might fit but not definatly.

has anyone got a clutch kit they recomend for this application and where to buy it from.

i have an american clutch in mine !! its the ACT and its rated to 500lbs but time will tell as its brand new and my car is getting a rotated gt30r fitted !! its either a bargain or the biggest waste of cash ever !! twinplate clutch is the obvious choice

I'm very impressed with my AP Organic.

120+ full drag starts and 8000 road miles is good with 380 x 370 and sticky Kumho's.

Im very impressed with my exedy twin plate , Over 150 drag strip runs over 5000 road miles, with 451 /480 > scooby clinic R/R , Its a clutch you fit and forget ??? cheers Alan.

All of the Exedy clutches, including the Hyper Single, Twin, and Triple, are straight bolt on, using the standard release bearing.

Gary,

400nm is about 300ftlbs so any good quality organic clutch, such as the Exedy, will be perfect for what you want, and relatively cheap..
