ECU Fault code 45
My MY93 WRX has recently suffered from the dreaded CHECK ENGINE light being illuminated.
This started by going on & off on an occasional basis, and an ECU reset kept it at bay for a while...but now it's back and won't go away - so I'd better do something about it! It's not much fun driving on no boost.
It is fault code 45, which would appear to be a faulty pressure sensor or inoperative exchange solenoid valve. I think it is the former, because I believe the exchange valve only operates when the ignition is first switched on?
Anyway, before I start playing around with expensive bits, could anyone give any suggestions as to how I make sure it *is* the pressure sensor which has packed up?
Cheers,
DaveD

Hi DaveD,
I've been chasing check engine light problems in my RS for over a year, I finally got sick of it and tossed the standard ECU for a Possum Link, problem solved (for me). In the Link manual there is a page titled "Possumlink ECU Grounding Issues (Pre ‘97, V1, 2, 3 WRX and RS Legacy Models)", I'm sure this will relate to the standard computer as well. Link have found a problem with the ground wires deteriorating due to age, one of the earth leads that needs to be replaced is directly related to the check engine light and may be causing your problem.
If you are interested I can scan the page and email it to you.
