I've been watching clips on the net of some geezer doing a flame out when and why does this happen I sent an e-mail to the "bat cave" but as yet no response?

John,

Do a search on "flames" as it has been discussed at length. I am far from technical but posted a similar topic and the main point were you need the following

Rich mixture pre 1999 as latest ECU adjust to the mixture constantly.

Stainless steel decatted exhaust preferably red hot in order to ignite the unspent high octane fuel.

Should happen as you lift off on the throttle or over-run.

One chap managed it on a MY99 by "blipping" the throttle on over-run eg down a steep hill etc

Oh and no baffles in your exhaust where the unspent fuel can mis with air and ignite inside the pipe. Full Scoobysport system seems to be the common denominator!

As I said, I haven't got a clue really!

John,
jerome is partially correct. If you really want flames, and lots of them, what you want is an atmos dump valve to add to the catless system. The MAF sensor reads how much air is being sucked into the engine and the ECU fuels accordingly. What happens when you remove some of the air? ie dump valve opens. The ecu still fuels as if it was there...result, mucho richness, unburnt fuel thrown out into the v hot exhaust..hey presto flamethrower city. Useful for motorway tailgaters, scaring old people/ small children, and also allows you to see where you've been in very dark nights.

At the moment I have a ss Dp, Magnex centre pipe (with resonator box), Magnex back box, Piperx Induction kit, Blitz Dump valve, and A superchip. I get quite a few flames, pops etc But thinking of changing the centre pipe for a straight through one to see if it improves the flams as I've heard the centre box stops them a bit.

A MoTeC ecu with anti-lag and launch control will satisfy any need for flames

Simon

Full ScoobySport exhaust including up pipe + ITG panel filter.

Leda coilover 24 point adjustable suspension.

AP 6 pot brakes.

The last two make the biggest difference. I was easily taking 2-300 yards out of some other cars under braking at the end of the back straight into the esses - and i'm not exaggerating.

dave,
installed the scoobysport and the itg this week- just waiting for another track day (usually with TKH in the type RA, and mine seems rather slow in comparison)
suspension and brakes planned- but the car's only done 400 miles so far so i'd better take it easy for a while!
thanx again.
