Burble on a MY06 - How do I get it
Hi all
I've trying to get some burble from my MY06 WRX, so far I have changed the backbox for a Prodrive item but not really got any improvement in sound, next I thinking a straight through centre pipe to replace the resonator section, has anyone done this to an 06 and have any comments on it.
Looking at previous threads its seems to be 50/50 split on replacing the centre resonation section or the 2nd Cat to get some noise.
Also If I change the resonator section am I going to need a remap at some point or will I be ok if I stop here?
Thanks

im not sure about the manifolds/headers on 06 models but if they are equal length then they wont burble as much as unequal length, might be worth seeing what yours are mate, sure someone on here will know

replace the back box, thats it!
my 01wrx had no sound like my 06 sti, both required the firestorm from TSL to sound like they were supposed to!
no other mods needed imho!

Have been offered a firestorm and unsure as to whether it's worth just bolting the back box onto my 06 if it makes little or no difference to the sound.

i used this firestorm on my 01wrx, 04 sti and now the 06sti.
On the 01 i had the back box, center section and the section with the lamba sensor in (short bit).
on the 04 i just did the center section and back box
on the 06 its just hte back box.
the 01 was really noisy, and pretty loud in the car.
04 was loud, but not too bad in car and ok on tick over
06 isnt loud in the car, not as loud outside as the 01 or 04 but thats mainly due to not having the other sections. I get a nice loud sound, if i start the car outside and go into the house i can clearly hear it outside.
anyone saying the burble is gone either has equal length headers or they dont have an 06 version. The burble is clearly there and returns just with the back box.
When i got the 01 and 04 i could hardly hear the burble either tbh, i agree its slightly less on the 06, but only fractionally and the reduced burble could be put down to improved filters in the exhaust system!

I Intitially changed the standard back box on my 06 to a prodrive one and like you, found it only made a small difference. I have now changed thr resonated pipe and back box for a tsl group n back box and a straight thro' centre section and the difference is amazing. Sounds better than my old MY 04 did with a prodrive exhaust. Its seems to me that the resonated section is the main problem, is supresses the noise. Also, the car now seems a little more torque, but that may be my imagination!
