How to check what diffs are in gearbox?

Default How to check what diffs are in gearbox?

Is it easy enough to check and change if nessacary?

Not sure if a box I bought has 3.9 or 4.44 diffs.

Read the long number on the gearbox close to where the starter motor goes, should be something like TY 752 XXXXX ie TY 752 VBCAA
That can be de-code to tell you what SHOULD be in there unless it has been messed about with.

Post the number to me here or on pm and I'll send it back to you.

Changing the front diff isn't too bad if you use a good specialist (ie Welcome to the API website)

What car/year is the gearbox off?

Check here using gearbox code or model/year The SPDA - Transmission Chart

worst case count teeth on crown wheel and the pinion and divide the two No's
(ie: crown divided by pinion)
