Which is the better way to go? PPG or STI-6-Speeder
Hi,
Short entry:
I have a 2.2l cdb with 420/420, which soon will do its job in my classic (MY00)
So, now I have to decide, which gearbox I will take. My car is basically for track use (Northloop).
I think, that there are two ways to go
- complete STI 6 speed gearbox
Advantage: better power loss (less friction), better diffs
Disadvantage: a lot heavier
-PPG
Advantage: ligther, maybe to bit stronger than the 6-speeder
Disadavantage: need to get an extra front-diff
Which one would be the better way for my purpose?
I need some help to decide, because nearly no one in Germany/Swiss etc has experience with the different possibilties to upgrade a gearbox of a classic Impreza.
Cheers
Bastian

Just my opinion:
I hillclimb a classic Sti with 370 lbft so understand your position.
For outright speed the ppg is the answer
Light/strong/easy to service (in the UK)
Holds its value!
£3K ish to do.
6 speeder, £2K
Smooth crisp and reliable
30Kg more weight
Can have a larger clutch fitted if you have the 6 speed flywheel.
Possibly needs a rear diff change too!
£1K buys the strength/peace of mind
