Default 1ST POST HELP NEEDED 6SPD DCCD STI IN TO A CLASSIC UK SPEC

Hello everyone,My name is Duncan and this is my first post.I have just purchased the full engine, gearbox and running gear from a 2002 jdm sti and wondered how much work and hassle was involved in transplanting the whole lot including the dccd in to my 98uk turbo2000 which does not have a dccd.I would be glad of any info anyone can offer. Please help,Duncan.

Thats an expansive question and I assume that youre hoping for something more constructive than: 'quite a lot'..... Assuming that you have the ECU and loom and the rear differential then its perfectly possible. Have you ever removed an engine and transmssion before?

David O'Brien at API engines is knowledgable and helpful and Im sure that there are a number of people in the Technical forums here who will be able to help, having done this themselves.

Simon

With regard to DCCD; you can run the transmission without the controller initially and the cerntre diff will be 'open' and run without a problem.

I have everything from the sti including ecu and loom.I have not removed an engine and gearbox before but do all my own mechanics and have good mechanical knowledge (i think)More concerned about the electrical side with getting everything working including the dccd. Thanks for the welcome guys you will probably hear a lot more from me on this one.

I think you'll find most of the information you need on Scoobynet using "Search". After ruining my 5MT gearbox, I took the plunge and ordered a 6MT conversion from API - as I found enough information on Scoobynet to reassure myself that it was doable.

Make sure that you have the diff controller/ecu and loom/ handbrake switch/ dash lights as well.
I believe that you may need a shortened prop as well, but don't quote me on that!
API have a very good rep for doing this and for giving good free advice if you fancy doing it yourself

If you have the complete loom then it may be worth sourcing the MY02 dash as well - there is a thread in the Projects section that fitted a newage engine/dash/loom to a classic, the gearbox was the easy bit!

Welcome BTW

You have the loom and ECU which is essential to run the 02 engine but do not make any mistakes about how big a job it is.
