Default 6 speed swap, what about DCCD?

I am going to swap the 5 speed gearbox of my Version 5 sti, which had no DCCD, with a 6speed which HAS DCCD.

What do I need in order to make the dccd work?
Is there anything on the market that will make the DCCD work although the car did not have one originally?
I saw a Neetronics device, is that any good?
Any other available?

I think you will find the 6 speeder dccd is different to the 5 speeder dccd.
Also, Neetronics is the only device to fit other than the stock items.

You could discuss with David at Welcome to the API website

The device at rallispec is double the price of the neetronics Neetronics - Home
and there is little information for that.

I saw the neetronics manual and it is very interesting becuase you can preprogramme several settings, which will be very helpfull at the hillclimp, Graham.

The problem is that seems very cheap for this type of electronics and there is no feedback from people using is.

I wait a couple of guys from the NASIOC that have bought it and they will install it soon, to let me know results.

I have a Neetronics unit in my car, a 98 wagon with a 6MT DCCD! I love it!

The lock level is adjustable from 0-100% in 10 steps, in addition you can program lock % to use when throttle input exceeds a defined level. This is perfect for track day action, I usually want more lock after passing the apex. Also great on snow, during the winter I program it to select 60% lock when throttle input is above 50% - for safe overtaking

A lock level can also be set for brake input, it also has a low speed timer that automatically opens the diff when parking etc.

Highly recommended. 1.5 year, 40.000 km - no problems. The internal parts/finish look neat, surface mounted print board.
The 12 positition wheel switch they include could be of better quality, though.

I've just had a 6-speed JDM box with DCCD fitted to my '96 RA (which didn't have DCCD). The work was done by David and the boys at API and IIRC they used the DCCD controller from a classic connected to the later box. It certainly works very nicely indeed

I'm at API tomorrow to have the Type R /dccd box readied for my non dccd Sti v3.
The data on the Neetronics is very good, and it is great to hear from a real user.
If I can't get a stock controller from David, the I will go for the Neetronics for sure.

I believe that the Dccd electronics are within the main wiring harness of the vers 5 / 6 cars. On the earlier cars there was an extra little wiring harness and ecu just for the dccd, so you could just get that and make it work. Fit the dials set from the dccd car with the xmas tree light display for the dccd and off you go.

On a later car you'll be better off with the Neetronics set up. I have never seen one, but Hans-Martin tells me that his works well and it doesn't seem too difficult to wire in.

Good Luck David APi

PS I do have a dccd control set up for you Graham.
