First of all..

is it worth getting a quickshift on an MY01 Bugeye WRX

second

What's the best / cheapest way to do it...

There are lots floating about from just sticks to the full kit from subaru.. however I seem to remember that a lot of quoted ones that are advertised for 5 speeds don't fit on a bugeye onwards....

i fitted a b&m short shift to mine and it made a great difference.

long time no see

your welcome to have a feel of mine at the next meet, i have the oe suabru full linkage job

- think its a bit naff, not worth the rough notchyness

better than standard just about but not worth the money

I'm not wanting to spend hundreds here.. levers are less than £50.. the B&M one is a bit much for what it is...

Is it worth fitting? Yes - big improvement

Which one? There are loads, around - take your pick, dependent on your budget

Fitting - DIY job

Subaru on my 03 WRX too, i cannae remember what it felt like before now as i had it fitted very early on, but yeah worth it.
I agree with WRX Rich on notchness, but i thought that was the gearbox anyway and not caused by the quickshift.
I have never felt another one though so cant compare really.

i've liked my perrin ss very much. it's just a bit of al that replaces the lever-linkage pivot point. if you don't go overboard with how short you're trying to go, it does not bind or create undue friction. i did purposely bend up the metal ring which seals the rubber boot/weatherstrip a bit to get clearance.
