Clutch.......and what else?
OK, at 74000 miles, (not bad for a 98 car), my clutch is definitely slipping.
I have TWO questions:
1. What sort of clutch do I want fitted, (I'll get it done locally, but I want the best clutch for my money), I'm running the car modded to around 300bhp.
2. While the clutch is out, is there owt else wants doing to save money later? I know you ALWAYS put a new release bearing in, but what of crankshaft oil seals, etc etc?
TIA, Alcazar

a)What sort of use do you do (ie road, track, 1/4 miles etc...) This will affect your choice.
b)Get the flywheel skimed/replaced. It will make sure that your new cluth won't judder after a few miles...

A good organic should be fine then (ie exedy/helix etc).
Skimming the flywheel ensures that it will be flat(not warped/scored) for the new clutch, hence eliminating the chances for judder. Some clutches are better than others on this but skimming does help.
A lighter flywheel is another option(which will help quick gear changes/engine responce), but I'm not sure how this will affect towing...
PS
Yes the one 5mls off Scunny ;-)

id be interested in info on this too. my clutch definatley slips when boosting sometimes... revs shoot up and car slows down lol. alcazar/anyone else, any ideas on subaru friendly garages round the s****horpe area, as im still new to cars in general and driving. im personally looking at 300bhp eventually so would a standard or a fast road/track clutch be needed?
any info on costs/garages would be much appreciated too rather than starting a new thread.
also how long a job it it?
andy (sunny scunny too)
