Default New Car - Same Problems, Help!!

Hi

I've got rid of my old MY93 which I used to post a problem per month on, sorry to the person that bought it.

I've now bought a shiny Silver MY95 Imported STI but after 4 months of sheer perfection I have a problem!!

It runs perfectly when warm but is a dog when cold. It stutters, low idle, sort off misses when pulling away but as soon as the temp gauge gets to normal she’s fine.

So… what’s controlling the engine till its warm?
Is there a test I can do – engine light has NOT come on.
Where do I buy new one?
And is it easy to fit so I can do it myself?

Once she’s back to full health I’ll post her pictures on here, it looks great. Shiny Sliver, STI V6 Spoiler, gold Wheels. Everyone looks at it!

Cheers for the help…….

The ecu controls the cold start, closed loop adding plenty of fuel, at least on later classics like mine

all scoobys should warm up abit before driving, also to get the gearbox/turbo into right temp before giving it some stick.

Sounds like a fine scoooby you've gotten yourself there

Couple of possibles spring to mind..

the coolant temp sensor is faulty.. when it is warming up and still cold are the rad fans running? classic sign as rthe ecu is not sure if it is hot or cold engine and so covers both bases.

Coil packs are needing replacing. . they corrode over time and need replacing yet look perfect.

Lambda sensor is faulty and whilst warming up the fuelling is too rich with cold start fuel added by ecu and the fuel added due to the lambda sensor reading incorrectly.

thinking further.. if the fans are not on when cold then i would replace the lambda sensor..
