WRX rear clunk/clonk/grind
Ok, this is a slight variation on a theme:
MY02 wrx. virtually from new had some clonkiness at the back, but never enough to cause me any concern. at 80,000 miles was getting a bit worse. NSR damper started to leak a bit so swapped both rear struts for MY05 sti ones. Noise is exactly the same.
the noise is noticable only when traveliing slowly over an uneven surface, its a clunky noise. When the car is coming to rest, on the last wheel revolution there is a grinding noise and the car settles almost imperceptibly. It feels exactly like a loose wheel nut ( it's not) or a failing bearing ( no play in either bearing and no nyah nyah drone at speed). I am perplexed. Spanner/ wiggle check on on all the usual culrpits underneath ok. I am perplexed.. . Anyone have any ideas?
