Default TD05 16g V V34/35

I was looking to upgrade my TD04 in my wrx2001, was thinking of a TD05 16G or a VF34/35: , Mods done so far are Miltek fast flow cat, H&S centre section and Afterburner B/back.
Away to fit prodrive fuel pump, Sti injectors and a STI TMIC and up pipe.

Anybody have advice on which turbo upgrade would be best for my car and any other mods before a get a TEK3 map.

See this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/floyd-s-economy-t414125.html

My vote goes to the VF35 when not using a large turbo inlet pipe.

35s come up for sale quite often, aournd the 250 mark.... 34s are less common as they were only really used in bugeye STI's and there are obviously less of those around.

If anything mate, I think the 35s should be rarer:

VF35

VF35 The VF35 has identical internals as the VF30 and it uses divided thrust bearings. However, the exhaust housing is a P15 which means this turbo will have fantastic spool characteristics. This turbo is standard on the new WRX Type RA. LIMITED SUPPLY.

Taken from here:

You'd probably be looking at more like 350 for a good un.

VF35 is the standard turbo on any STI8 UK & STI9 UK.....the VF34 & VF30 were only used on the STI7....

given the volume of sales of STI8/9s the VF35 shouldnt be too hard to come by!

The VF34 being arguably the superior turbo with a P18 housing.

Interesting.

Won't the VF35 spool quicker than the 34 owing to the smaller exhaust housing, but the 34 will have a better top end, or is it the other way around?

Mine spools up very quickly, similar to the TD04 in fact. Noisy bugger, but I like to hear the turbo!

The 02 STI Type UK's use the VF35 too.

nope spot on, slightly faster spool, but less top end.

Mines running a vf34 with ported headers and i think its great even though it is a little slower at spooling, overall though its great.
