Help!!- Loud bang and clunking noises
Car is MY00 uk turbo with 70k
Was travelling home tonight and booting in 5th and then a loud bang- like hitting something.
This was followed by clunking noises.
Noise is speed releated- No noise from car when stationary and changes gear fine so im thinking rear diff. Got home and found oil underneath rear diff.
Is it repairable?
How easy is it to remove?
What diffs are straight swaps?
I'm assuming I shouldnt drive it until this is sorted?
Thanks for any help

Possibly your centre propshaft bearing/mount has broke, causing it flap about and catch the underside of the car.
Not cheap (£100 mark IIRC)considering it's only a bit of metal, rubber and a nsk ball bearing just like the ones on transits...but that's Subaru and International Motors for you

I have a similar problem, seems I've chipped a tooth in the rear diff, will find out later this week.
The oil leak could have been there before, and even contributed to the problem!

Let me know the diagnosis when you find out- read your thread and sounds very similar. I should find out later this week.
