6 Speed into pre99 Model
Just installed a 2002 JDM 6 Speed into my 98 GC8. Many problems occured which are however well known. After I completed the installation I wanted to do a testdrive. This never happened since my clutch won't release 100 %. Did anyone have the same problem? After checking everything I believe that the shift fork from my 5 Speed is not the same as the post STI 5 ones?!?
It seems as the new ones are shorter and not as flat as mine. Check the picture that tells more then the rest ; )

Do I need to change to a new age one that it'll work or can I just shorten the pin on the clutch cylinder?

Have you ever done it? By how much do I need to shorten it? I believe there is a difference between a GC shift fork and a std. WRX shift fork too since the guy in the States can drive slightly and I can't at all?

Hey guys, afterall it is finished and works! I had to shorten the clutch slave cylinder pin about 10mm off until it worked. At first I shortened it by 5mm but the clutch just slipped easily, also the fork was not free and couldn't be moved eventhough there was no pressure on it.
I made some pics of my first go which was not enough though.

Sorry the pics are a bit unsharp. At my 2nd attempt I cut the front of the pin about 3mm and the rear about 2mm so that the rubber doesn't touch the fork afterwards. Now it works great however the fork touches the slave cylinder since that fork is much flatter then the STI one which is not that nice...
To solve this problem there would be the option to sand the top of the clutch slave cylinder a bit down. However I will leave it as it is now.
