Clutch slip after remap
I've just had my car remapped yesterday and as expected it has made a big difference especially midrange which i am more than happy with but.... whilst on the motorway i booted it in 5th at just below 3k my revs shot upwards which normally means a buggered clutch it just seems to be a little overwhelmed by the power increase it has just received.
Through the gears it is fine just in 5th when you floor it as it is coming on boost.
I had an engine rebuild recently and the guy who did it said my clutch had loads left on it so i am somewhat puzzled.
will it be ok for the time being or is my clutch on its way out.
I dont really need the expense of a new clutch as i am feckin' skint after a rebuild and mods
Thanks chaps

Mine did exactly the same after a remap, best to change it as soon as poss, otherwise you will be buying/skimming a new flywheel.
Having said that I ran mine for about 6 weeks after the first slippage & avoided booting it in 5th & my flywheel was ok

Easylly done that mate...
Chances are that the stock clutch(althought in good nick), can't handle the increased torque after the re-map.
The only way in such case is a new uprated cluch.
You can drive around the problem, but as said you might end up needing a new flywheel as well. Better to sort it out sooner rather than later.

Twin plates aren't as harsh as paddles IME, especially unsprung ones which are particularly judder-man. Makes me think of Metz. Hmmm.
Anyway, that kind of power, just stick a Borg & Beck in there, circa £150 from your local friendly factor.

I wouldn't put a std clutch back in an uprated car, lest it gives way not too long after it goes in. Don't forget, each time you change it, you're looking at 4hrs worth of labour costs!
