Default Whine

My year 2000 turbo is making a very noticable whine at 30-35mph in 3rd, 45-50 in 4th and 70-80 in 5th. It will do it in ALL gears at these SPEEDS but these gears and speeds are when its at its most noticable. If in say 5th i accelerate to 85 i cant hear it at all but i dont know if its still doing it but engine/exhaust noise drowns it out.

It only does it when its under load. If i ease of the accelerator the noise completely stops.

Had the car in the garage but they have'nt a clue.

Anyone any ideas. Got me rather worried.

Matt.

The car was making these noises before my gearbox went bang(2nd gear). The box has been completely rebuilt and i had the bearings replaced at the same time at great expense (they werent knackered just did it because) and its still making noises or something is. Dont know if its the box!

The whine has also got alot worse and does it over a much larger range of speeds than originally quoted. It also made another Whiney type noise at the same time as the other one whilst cornering round a long left hander.
