The temp sender has packed up on MY95, causing the temperature gauge to be a little erratic. I've had the gauge tested and this works fine. So I've ordered a new temp sender - but can anyone tell me if where this is on the engine AND if it's an easy job to replace?

Cheers,

Andy

There are two temp sensors, the one Gavin has highlighted is actually the one the ecu uses for fuel compensation etc, there is another one that is purely for the guage, I think its situated next to the ecu item but has a single terminal instead of a two pin connector.

Gavin - thanx for the pictures!

Bob - as you rightly say; I'm need to replace the sender for the gauge, rapther than the sender for the ECU.

Can anyone confirm that the Gauge sender is situated next to the ECU sender in Gavin's picture?

Andy

Andy,

Sorry about that - I should have read your post properly!

The pictures are from GlennW's web site which is here:

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys! I haven't peered under the bonnet yet, but is as straightforward as it seems to appear? Can I just unscrew the sender from the engine and replace it with the new one? Any sepcial tools required?

I think I'll have a look this lunchtime to have a look at the little sucker!

Cheers,

Andy

just unscrew the old one and rather quickly put the new one in as it will lose coolant

<<coolant leaking everywhere!>> Ah, I thought as much!

Do I need any gasket or sealant around the new sender?
