Default Roughly what sort of power difference???

I've got a new-age wrx, and my warranty runs out next month.

I've already got a centre de-cat and backbox, but I'm considering and ECutek 3 remap.

Would I feel the benefit? And what sort of power could I be expecting after the map???

And would I need anything else to compliment the re-map?

Thanks for any help.

IMHO to get the best out of the Tek3, I would consider decatting the downpipe and up-pipe/

The difference is very noticible

second that, you REALLY won't regret it and probably wished you'd done it sooner..!

Figures wise realistically around 270-280, however this dosen't tell the whole story and may sound like not much but when you take into consideration that rearly do PPP WRX's make 250 and that the on road performance/driveability is VASTLY improved it's a fantastic mod..!

Reagrdless of what subsequent mods you do you probaby won't get as bigger gain as the first remap..!

Get your name down on the Powerstaion GB..!

So would I be better off getting a high flow catted downpipe first? Then getting the re-map??

And what sort of effect does it have on fuel consumption?

Thanks

Yes that's what I did and you won't regret it. Makes sense to do the downpipe before the remap - you don't need the up-pipe if it's an 03 onwards WRX as these didn't have a cat there. Turbo will spool earlier and power delivery is much improved. I find fuel consumption is marginally better - used to average 21-27mpg and now average 24-30mpg.

Having a fully decatted 05 WRX (remapped with usu. supporting mods) I'd recommend doing the same, but next time (if funds allow..!) I'd go for a high flow sports catted downpipe..

The 3 years is up on my warranty in March so it's "Trade in" or "Mod" time. And I have decided the Stealth Wagon is going to stay.Couldn't bear to part with all that's been done already.

So what's next then :-

Hayward & Scott 100 cell high flow down pipe (only 2 BHP loss over decat pipe & MOT friendly)

H&S Up pipe

H&S Centre pipe straight through

Already have short section from PPP & Backbox.I may change the BB depending on sound levels from the above pipe work.

Followed by a Tek3 re-map with Pat Herborn to get everything flowing nicely.

And here are the amazing results for my WRX Stealth Wagon. The H&S plumbing was collected & fitted the same day by Xtreme at Boreham.Nice one guys.

Then came some re-mapping wizardry by Pat.He is THE man.

Before

After

Overlay

290bhp up from 252bhp

275lbft up from 263lbft

Boost 1.3bar up from 1.2bar.

I am a happy bunny

Mark

Does remapping to this have any detremental affect on the engine, ie are the standard components strong enough in a non STi WRX to take this without worrying about it. Oh, and did you map on Optimax or SUL ?

I was under the impression that it's only the 01/02 WRX's that have an up-pipe cat?

Stand corrected...

Standard WRX engine components are easily upto the job of coping with these modifications - shouldn't cause any problems... car definately should be mapped on SUL or better.

262 BHP and 343Nm Way hay from Ecutek at Powerstation.

WRX 01 UK, I still have all the cats in place, an HKS Panel, WR Sport Back Box and new fuel pump. Mapped on Tesco 97 RON.

PPP or STi power for half the money!!!!

I raised these very points with Xtreme & with Pat on the day.But I needn't have worried as my mapping session with Pat was tailored to suit my driving style & the spec of my car.I was advised on all aspects of the remap & told what options were available for my set up that would keep things within a margin of safety.

The car has always been run on Optimax or higher so was mapped accordingly.Might as well get the most from the changes.

Yes it is a bit confusing whats in which pipe in which model.

All I know is if you look down my OE up pipe you can't see through it for "chicken mesh".It's also quite a bit fatter than the HS one,to allow for the stuffing I suppose.

Mark,

How has the remap changed the way the car drives. Power is up but seems like it is delivered later ? I want to do something similar once waranty has expired, but I wouldn't want to lose the low end urgency the PPP map has got. Was your car PPP'd, can you compare ?

It is weird because the car actually drives with better low down pick up than before. It is hard to keep off boost even feathering the throttle when first setting off to warm the oil up.And on the road the car seems to get away from me speed wise for what feels like the same input - if that makes sense.

Pat mapped it to suit me not going eveywhere with a 100% throttle opening & I asked for the boost to start building from lower revs than it had been.

The run on the 15th was a lot colder day,not much above freezing.Ambient temp on the 7th was 8C or 9C so charge temps would have been higher.

And yes the first graph is with just the PPP & comparison wise the car is more lively all round despite how the graph looks.

Thats good, im not that interested in bhp numbers, more in the improvements you feel in driving it. Livley all round, what more could you ask!
