Cool MY97/98 Piston slap Modification or dealer fix?

Hi,

What was the official fix for piston slap on 97 and 98 cars? New short motor or an slightly oversize/different shape piston? if it's the second, are these still available???

Cheers

George

both! to start with you could only get a short motor for turbos but a modded piston for n/a cars, then they done the modded piston for the turbos as well and yes they are still available

Is the slap actually causing you a problem? Mine goes when warm and has done so without getting any worse for over 2 1/2 years.

Cheers guys,

Have ordered the modified piston, apparently they are graded A or B depending on what the car had fitted originally.

Wasn't too bothered about the noise but it had been gradually getting worse over the 5 years i've owned the car taking longer to die away as it warmed up.
