Default gearbox mania

i have been using just fwd on my car due to different sized rear tyres(no prop fitted)and i have converted recently from auto to manual,it was fine until recently it began clicking and then after a day or two it jumped out of drive like it wasnt in gear?,as soon as i put the diff on and drove it a few yards i took it off again and it drives (fwd) again but is still clicking.....
is the mid diff ok?is this caused just because its not ment to be just fwd and has kind of transferd all power to rear (no prop)or is it nackerd now?

You have killed it more than likely. The viscous diff doesn't lock fully, and with moderate power will be slipping and eventually burning up.

£433 for a new one from subaru.
