Gearbox Demise Imminent?
Changed the gearbox oil in my 120K mile RB5 at the weekend, and unfortunately found a fair amount of metal attachec to the magnetic drain plug. The shrapnel looks like bits that have been shaved off - like when you take too big a bite with your lathe tool - rather than broken teeth.
Have a look Here. Is it about to go bang big style?

Looks familiar.
Is the car modified? If not and it has done 120k on the original box then why not just buy a decent used box for £400 and fit that?
I recently sold a good six speed box with diff and linkage that would have fitted your car for £1800. You can use a standard size clutch or upgrade to a 240mm clutch when going for a six speed.
But on a standard car I'd fit a standard box.
