Default Air filter advice for a first timer.

Bought a Scoob today and i noticed it is slightly modified, STI back box and a cone filter, its putting out 238bhp which was verified at Well Lane Turbo Centre and i have on a graph.
The thing is i have heard all sorts of scare stories with regards to cone filters.
Should i ditch it or keep it??

Thanks chaps!

Ditch it and get an uprated panel filter. 99/00 models are prone to MAF sensor failures when Induction Kits are used. Did the previous owner give you the old air box??

Should be able to get an air box on ebay, or on here in the for sale section for not a lot of money. A decent panel filter such as Green, K&N etc, will set up back £40.

Just my 2p worth. I fitted a K&N pannel filter and apart from making a nice noise its not worth having, it also made the MAF play up. Standard is the way to go.
