Thumbs down Head Gasket Failure??????????????????????

My '95 WRX has developed a problem with the cooling side of things.

We've got bubbling in the coolant overflow, cold heaters, red hot top hose, freezing cold bottom hose and its boiling over from the header tank.

I've changed the thermostat, but no different. Refilled the system really slowly to try and avoid airlocks.

The car will tickover fine with the temp gauge sitting bang on in the centre but as soon as you give it a bit of revs it'll boil over, or if the cap is replaced it'll just bubble like crazy in the overflow.

Head Gasket failure???

If it is the Head Gaskets, which type do people recommend? Is it recommended getting the heads skimmed and is there anything that can/should be done to the engine while its out of its hole to improve reliability.

Thanks in advance

Mark

PS Its the first real problem i've had in 4 years of ownership so I cant really complain!!!!

The gasket(s) have gone for sure.
A perfect place to get them done is David www.apiengines.com
He did mine and the job has been perfect on the road and intense competition.

He is a zero bullsh!t zone and is as straight as a die.
Tell him '911' sent you.
All his past/current customers are his Sales Team.

It doesnt seem to be leaking anywhere, but I've only been 1/2 mile since this trouble started.

Besides I honestly think that this is the head gasket/s that have gone, just from past experience with other cars and from what i've read on here.

API looks like they'll be getting another customer!!

But like i said I want to get a few other jobs done while engine is out, so that once its back in, i dont wanna be heavin it back out again!!!!

Cool

I took my engine to API 'loose' that is out of the car and stripped as far as I could go. This reduced the bill.
David and his team were good enough to strip the heads off while I had a cup of coffee(!) so I could see the damage and discuss the acrtons to take.
Top Class stuff.

Thats what i intend too do, just the short engine with the heads still attached.

I'll be powder coating most of the other stuff whilst they're off the engine
