hi all

I am taking the car in for a service to power engineering on monday (sti 5) tonite i was in a parking lot and was just turning the car around I smelt something like plastic burning the battery light on the dash came on then the power steering totally went, felt like going to the gym just to turn the wheel around,

another weird one is the handbrake light stays on all the time now as well though the handbrake is down these both happened at the same time

any ideas what it could be ? just trying to budget how many £ it is gonna have me out

Sounds like your power steering belt has snapped, it connects the alternator (battery light) and power steering pump..

The handbrake light, or brake fluid light lights up if the brake fluid is low, worth checking
