Default 95RON Re-Map

I've just bought a 96 WRX (jap spec) a month ago, i find out last week that SUL will no longer be supplied where I live (ISLE OF WIGHT)

Does anyone know if my ECU (Mines ECU) will learn or if I need a remap?

If so, any suggestions where and how much would be greatly appreciated?

Hurry, my Scooby only has 2 weeks to live!!!

I'd say that you need a remap I can't see a mines ecu allowing your car to run on 95

No as Paul says the Mines ecu won't retard the ignition enough for 95ron.. iirc it is quite an advance happy map on the Mines chip.. would think it very close to det on 98ron.

You could run 95ron + booster but bit of a pain.

Seeing as the mines chip will be in the spare slot you can alter the ecu to run on the standard map.. see www.scoobyecu.co.uk and do the reverse. Unfortunatly I expect the resister will be cut off very near the board.. you can replace it with a bit of wire, the resistor is not needed.

Or pay out for a mappable ecu and have it mapped with 95ron in the tank.

Thanks guys!

Just found out from a local Techno Weeny that I have a 97 Engine in a 96 Car.
Does this make a difference?

Simon

Thanks for the advice. I don't know about the ECU yet, but I'll find out.

Can you perfom the procedure advised?

If so, where are you based? And how much will it cost?

Thanks again

Easy to tell.. pull back the carpet in the passenger front footwell and remove the kick plate.. don't miss the 10mm nut at the top.

If the ecu has 4 plugs then it is pre97, if it has 3 then it is a 97.

I can supply and fit and remap on 95ron an Apexi ECU but I don't remap the standard ecus.

I best not say more than that as I am not yet an authorised advertiser.

Thanks

Thanks Simon

I'll have a look.

Also got a green wire 'unplugged' behind dash, r/h/s of steering wheel. Any ideas?
I've been looking into Apexi ECU. Quite expensive option?

there should be two green plugs and two black plugs to do with ecu reset and error code reading and iirc one green plug doing nothing and a yellow one which is bigger and for the select monitor so again left unplugged.

YHPM once I have written it.

Simon

Just looked up a 'Fuel Cat'

Would this provide the same effect?

If so, would you reccommend it rather than NF?

You are openning a can of worms with that one.. some say they work some say they don't.. there is no way it would bring 95ron up to 98ron imho..

Broquet I think was the name of one which some tried and no definite answer either way was brought from trying it.. not that I tried one personally.

I'd stick with the NF.. but then the fuel cat shouldn't hurt.. but who knows if it helps.

If you remove the ecu - take off the cover and see if a chip/board has been fitted as shown below :-

It may be possible to have the eprom/eproms replaced and 're-blown' with a safer map
ps - Mines ECU is normally set to run with 100Ron fuel

Cheers
