What place is this? I'm in the USA and I can't find EJ22T blocks new anymore. Regardless, the EJ257 is a better choice.

ej257 uses medium pressure casting, not low pressure and is semi closed.

the liners are also far thinner.

for the cost of a new ej22T block (normally comes as a complete short block) I wouldn't bother.

for that kind of money you would be far better off buying a built short block from quirt crawford.

I dissagree. The only advantage I'm aware of that the 22T has over the 257 is that the 22 is fully closed. How often is the failure of a shortblock related to the cylinder walls, really? The 257 comes with better pistons, crank, oil pump, more displacement (if you're not going 2.0, why not have it all, right?) and is cheaper and more plentiful. Around me, a used 257 goes for 600-900 USD, and a new one costs 1400 USD from the dealer.

hypereutectic pistons running low clearance are not good for boost.

I can show you pictures of an ej257 thickness liner failing.

don't knock full closed decking, it is there for a reason.

As for the I want a 2.33 so a 2.5 won't do, what possible reason could you have for expressly wanting a 2.33 over a 2.5 if the 2.5 is done properly?

If you're running over 500hp, then it's quite likely that a failure will be block related on a standard EJ257 block. Sometimes just headgaskets, sometimes a nice split about 2 inches down through the liner and cylinder wall.

Interesting... I'd never heard of that before.

i can arrange EJ22T housings through a dealer here. Problem is i'm in the Netherlands.
The housing is about 1000 pound/1500 euro delivered at my door if you're still interested. Not making any money on it by the way and i'm not sure if they have several on stock. There new from the factory

the bare housing Steve, and you need different internals anyway if you're making it an 2.33
