Type R box To UK
I have a MY99 Type R the engine went pop the other week. I am having a 2.5 engine fitted. I do lots of motorway work and I find the revs are always much to high on the Type R. It will be even worse with the 7000 rpm on the 2.5. I would like to have the same top end as the classic UK cars but still like the even gear changes so do not won’t just a longer 5th. I hear the Type R box is stronger than the UK and I have DCCD on mine and do not really want to lose it. So would really like to keep the Box.
Can this be done? And if so.
How much will it Cost?
Where do I get the parts that are needed?

I would have thought that if you go to the right person, you should be able to have an STI saloon gear set fitted to your box, which would give you nicely spaced gearing, but still with the dccd.....etc.. i would suggest making enquiries at Zen Performance.... (Pavlo).

What you really want is to increase the final ratio's of the box and rear diff.
It will keep the even-ess of the spacing, but open them up a bit, if that makes sense,
I went the easy option of increasing Fifth, but it should be an option, if you can get the parts.
Or, just fit the non-type r STI Gearing (Same as P1) and sell the old stuff at a profit.
