French Holiday - Shell Optimax?
Hi
Off to France (Chambery - Alps) later in the year for a couple of weeks.
Does anyone know what, if any, availability of Optimax is in France and what is availability of Super Unleaded generally?
Also, what is octane rating of French SUL as I heard rumours a year or two back that Optimax has a highr rating on the continent than here.
Failing a good supply of SUL what octane booster is recommended and where do you get it from as I have never used it?
Regards

AFAIK SUL in france is 98 ron, and Optimax is available at most Shell sites on the motorways.
Look out for the signs that tell you how far the next petrol stations are, not only do they give you the next 4-5 distance wise, they usually tell you which compay it is too.

You'll have no problems finding SUL, even most of the smaller garages seem to sell it.
The best thing is that the price differential compared with 95 RON seems to be much less than in the UK - 2 weeks ago we paid only 1 centime more for 98 RON, i.e. 1.13 Euros instead of 1.12, which made it about 78p a litre.
