Exhaust System without Remap?
I currently have an MY03 Sti. I'm planning on getting the Afterburner vortex full system but keeping both stock cats. Will the car be ok without getting a remap. I don't want to make it run too lean and blow the bugger up
I assume that because i'm keeping the cats it shouldn't make to much difference.
Can anyone confirm?

Well, if it was me I would say leave the map as it was .......................
But, this is ScoobyNet, and its full of old women these days - so, in good time honoured ScoobyNet fashion I will say this:-
Change your map, change your MAF, renew the ECU, buy and fit a Cocklink, fit a boost guage, ask the petrol station for a CofC so you can track the source of the fuel back to the correct pre-historic tree (if its the wrong tree, your engine will die!)
Oh, yes, the oil will have drained into the sump overnight - so EVERY morning turn the engine over with the Cam Sensor removed (only takes a few minutes and will save your engine from a dire end!)

How can you get a full system and keep both cats?
If you're talking keeping the standard downpipe and "front centre", and just fitting a new rear centre and backbox, you should be fine - I know of a few people who did this and had no problems, anyway. The problems with boost spikes on STi's tend to come from changing downpipes I believe.

Hades cheers bud. Yea did just mean the rear centre section and backbox. I don't want to remove cats YET. If i do change them it will be a little later and i will get a remap at that stage.

I presume you have a UK car?
Not sure if that is relevant, but from personal experience I have changed the whole system to various types of configuration including and excluding CAT's and my JDM MY03 STi did not require remapping because of anything safety related.
I would check with a specialist if I were you, just to double check.
Regards,
Shaun.
