Question Clutch Cylinder Sticking

The clutch pedal on my MY93 Legacy Turbo is sticking partly down , caused by the clutch master cylinder not fully releasing . I have also noticed a drip of brake fluid where the rod comes out of the cylinder so I'm guessing the cylinder needs overhauled . My clutch is also starting to slip & naturally it's worse when the clutch doesn't release fully .

I'll hopefully be getting a new clutch installed soon but I'd like to get the cylinder sorted first . Should I go with fitting a repair kit in the old cylinder or get a 2nd hand one from a breakers ? Anyone know if an Impreza one will fit ?

Cheers ,
Derek

Go for a kit , they are not to bad to fit, Not sure if an impreza one will fit, Is the clutch slave cylinder spring still in place, goes from the arm to a bracket on the block.

Derek: Sorry you are having this problem. A scrayard replacement is an easy option and probably cheapest but like Dean says an overhaul kit is not too bad a job. I suggest the clutch replacement is done same time.
Oh and best to use clutch fluid.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the help guys . Just did a search on the board & this seems to be a fairly common problem . I've now got a list of things to check before I repair/replace the master cylinder .

Priced a new master cylinder at the dealers - £150+v ! Even a repair kit is £48+v for just a few o-rings & seals ! Looks like a visit to the breakers .
