Cheap engine resistor mod?
Hi - new to modding and Scoobies
Got my 95 UK turbo wagon a few days ago
Loooked on e-bay for scooby stuff for sale and saw this...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...969403495&rd=1
claims to add 15bhp for just £10
this may be the dumbest question in history, but..... do these things work?

In short - No!
And it ceases to amaze me that people would actually consider fitting these things to decent cars, doubt you have any comeback if your engine goes bang shortly after

Now what are the tuners gonna do now that you've rumbled their tricks??
'Yes Sir, we can upgrade you to 420 bhp.' Then fit 8 or so of these things in parallel [ or series, can't remember which ] under the dash - wash the engine down with a cleaner, lower the boost whilst 'running in ' then off you go.
1000 miles later restore boost to original level and the car feels like a rocket.
If only it were that easy. Same deal as magnetic attachments to the fuel lines And fuel pressure adjusters that offer power and economy.
Save your money and put it to a proper rebuild or upgrade.

The basic principle of these things is that it fools the ECU into thinking the inlet charge temperature is a lot cooler than it actually is, so the ECU squirts a bit more fuel into the chamber.
In practice, it don't work, I tried one of these "upgrade chips" in my V6 mondeo, and there was no improvement at all, if anything, made the car worse. I'm glad I only wasted about £4
Definately steer clear of them
