Reverse gear selection arrangements??
Just changed the gearbox in my MY95UK Turbo to one from a Legacy. The part no.s from both boxes are as follows:
TY752VN1BA - New Legacy box
TY752VN3BA - My old box
Now i've been told that this digit just refers to a slight difference in the reverse gear selection arrangement internally. The only problem is it's played havoc with my reverse lights They come on whatever gear i'm in & not just reverse .
Now the sensor in there is from my old gearbox so i'm wondering if that's what the problem is? Should I source a Legacy sensor or can it just be adjusted/spaced somehow to fix the problem? It's currently disconnected from the loom to stop me blinding people behind me LOL
Anyone got a solution?
Cheers

normally just swap the sensor from your old box and it should cure it...............never had a problem putting leggy boxes in impreza and vice-versa...............
more likely just a faulty sensor

The sensor/switch in my new box is the one that was working fine in my old one so maybe taking it out has damaged it somehow. I'll take a look & see if maybe I need to source a new one.
