Default 6 speed box

Hi.

The gearbox in my Type R is now starting to show signs of wear. (60k). I'm debating whether to have the box reconditioned or put in another one. Obviously the price is involved in this decision but i'd like to find out a bit more about the possibility of fitting a 6 speed box.

Anyone changed from the Type R/RA cr box to a 6 speed? Would the car also benefit from a change of diff aswell?

Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

Whatever you do you must ensure the front and rear diffs are the exact same ratio.
As to the ratios of the trans being the same between a 6 speeder and the 5 speed Type R: I'm sure once late last year there was a very detailed thread on all the ratios etc on this conversion.
Best search long and hard the Drivetrain Threads.

Good luck with it, i think i will soon be following you.

There's a thread on 22B detailing the different ratios and and 6 speed box transmission No.s.

Another option is the PPG kit
